Types of Car Stereos

Have you ever had a ride in a car that had no music and you felt like you were in a boring world of your own? This should never be the case for you especially if you are planning on covering a long distance. Boredom kills! And your answer to this is a car stereo for your comfy car. Regardless of one's age, music is always like medicine to the soul.

One thing to note is that not all types of car stereos will be relevant for your vehicle and for that reason you need to be really aware of the features that you are looking for in this gadget. Just to mention a few of them, you might want to consider buying one that has a CD deck with a built in pre amp if you are considering using old speakers.

A stereo that is MP3 readable will prove very much helpful if you will constantly need to burn music from your computer and listen to it on your car system. Sub woofers should also prove helpful in enhancing the bass and general quality of the music. Buy them in a complete set for better quality. In addition, it could have a class-D amplifier to go together with the sub woofer.

Do you know what makes some stereos quite expensive and un affordable? Well then, i will tell you. It is the unnecessary features like the animations and screen savers that are not really essential for the device to function. If you can select one that does not have these things and compare it to one that has them, then you will find that you will be able to save a lot of money that can be utilized elsewhere.

How To Build an Electric Car - A Basic Overview

Electric cars are one of the simplest forms of self-propelled motorized transportation. The engine or the driving mechanism of an electric car is made up of a series of batteries attached to an on and off switch that in turn is attached to an electrically operated motor.

Its the electric motor, which drives the wheels, thereby propelling the car into motion. Usually, all electric cars have a more complicated method to control the amount of electricity that goes into the motor and the gear system to help drive the wheels in a more capable manner. Some electric cars also have solar collectors that convert solar energy into electricity for slow recharge of the batteries.

But why bother with an electric car? Its because electric cars offer a singular driving experience, with excellent handling, as well as quick initial acceleration thanks to their low center of gravity. With almost continuous torque even at lower speeds, making it easy to climb curbs, steep inclines and sharp turns. Additionally, with the cost of conventional fuel increasing on a regular basis, using electrically charged cars makes for an ideal choice.

Making a basic electric car is fascinating and easy. Since, electric cars are very simple in overall construction; they can even be built by anyone. The main components are a simple frame, basic wheels, an electric motor, a car battery, and an electric on and off switch. You can build a simple electric car in about two weeks!

Although there is more to an electric car than was provided in this article, it is still easy to accomplish with a simple blue print, knowledge of electric currents and wiring, and the parts to put it all together.

Water Powered Car Engine - Why Bother Using Water Fuel to Power Your Car's Engine?

Breaking Water into Simpler Forms

So how is it possible to use water fuel as an alternate source of vehicle fuel? First and foremost, one should understand the composition and capacity of one of nature's vast resources. Water can be broken down into simpler forms. It has a chemical build up of H20. For every water compound, there are two hydrogen molecules that are chemically bonded with one oxygen molecule.

When separated, the two elements that compose water are both capable of vast amounts of energy. Hydrogen is a highly flammable gas, and oxygen is also capable of combustion. But in water form it can't be set on fire. So the chemical bond should be broken using electrolysis in an HHO generator. Through this method, water molecules are separated to their basic forms and create a gas called oxyhydrogen. This gas can be brought to combustion at 570 degrees Celsius or 1,065 degrees Fahrenheit. When such temperature are reached in the ignition of the car, the gas becomes flammable.

Using Water in Cars as Fuel

Running a car on oxyhydrogen requires vast amounts of water that can fill up the whole car. The key solution to this dilemma is to use normal fuel and supplement it with oxyhydrogen from water. One part of water will be used for every part of fuel. By doing so, there would be great savings from buying gas because the combustible gas from water extends the car's running distance. Water would thus aid gas for better fuel consumption and not as a replacement for gasoline to run a car on water.

Another good advantage of running a car on water is that it will have less carbon dioxide emissions and it will make the car function much "greener." The development of green vehicles is on the rise recently. This has become a manufacturing trend because people have become more concerned of the reduction of pollution and its effects to the environment. The alternative of using water fuel as a supplemental energy for cars would release by products such as water and oxygen, which are not harmful to the surroundings.

Converting Cars

To make cars run on water, the conversion can be done personally at the comfort of one's garage. There are several self-help books available on the market and the web, which takes a person on a step-by-step procedure of converting the car. Hydrogen kits are even available which have easy plug-it-in instructions.

Making the conversion is a money saving move. But it's always good to check the capability of the vehicle before it for water fuel. It is always fun and exciting to make modifications on vehicles, but it should always be done with careful planning and correct applications before having your own water powered car engine.

Read this full guide that teaches you step by step on how to run a car on water using an easy to assemble hydrogen generator for car for less than $90 with parts from any local hardware store.

How to Start a Gas RC Car - Ignite That Nitro

Owning and operating a nitro powered radio controlled car or truck adds an element of excitement and realism to this hobby above and beyond that provided by the electric RC counterparts. Unfortunately, it also poses some unique challenges. The one question that is posed to me the most often is 'how do I start a gas powered RC car'?

Well, first of all, you need to assemble a few necessary items. These can be obtained either individually, or purchased as a package with or without your radio controlled car or truck. You will need the correct nitro fuel, a glow igniter, batteries for your radio transmitter and receiver, and a small screwdriver.

Have your glow igniter fully charged and ready to use. Make sure you have installed batteries in your controller (transmitter) and the car's on board receiver. Verify that they are functioning properly by operating the steering, throttle and brake. After all, you want to be able to control your RC car once it is running! Fill the car's fuel tank with the proper nitro fuel. Be careful fuel is extremely flammable and toxic! Check with your engine's manufacturer or your local hobby shop to make sure you are using the recommended nitro mix. 20% is the most popular. OK? Now we are ready to fire her up.

Clip the glow igniter to the glow plug located in the top of the engine cylinder head. Rotate the engine by whatever means your car or truck uses such as manual pull recoil, on board electric starter, drill operated shaft starter, or portable starter box. You may have to 'choke' the engine to initially supply fuel to the carburetor. You can easily do this by placing a finger over the exhaust outlet. Watch for fuel movement through the fuel hose so you know when fuel has reached the carburetor. You don't want to flood the engine!

Once the engine has started and is running smoothly, you can remove the glow igniter. Drive easy for a few minutes until the engine warms up a little. After warm up you may find it necessary to adjust the carburetor high speed needle, low speed needle, or idle speed set screw to maximize performance.

This might all seem intimidating to you, but it really isn't hard to learn with a little practice and patience. The sound of that high performance nitro engine springing to life makes it well worth the effort!

Most Frequent Car Repairs

With any machine as complicated as an automobile, you are bound to run into problems now and then. Fortunately, the majority of car repairs involve the same common issues, so it is relatively easy to find mechanics able to repair them.

Prevention is the best medicine, as they say, and that goes for cars, too. If you know what the most common auto repairs are, you can make sure that you are vigilant of these areas and keep them well-maintained. Often, it`s worth getting repairs done before the part is completely ruined, such as with brakes. When something vital goes wrong, it could cause serious problems and even an accident, so you will want to check these frequently.

Brakes
Since we use our brakes continuously, it makes sense that they tend to wear down before many other parts on the vehicle. However, the brakes are also a very important part of the safety system in a car, so you really don`t want to wait until they fail.

The best way to ensure that you never have real problems with your braking system is to simply have it fixed as soon as you notice anything different. If you hear squealing every time you slow down or the brakes seem mushy and need to really be stomped on to stop, it`s time to head to the garage and get things checked out. It`s just not worth the risk of having the brakes give out when you need them most.

Tires
Another part of vehicles that tends to need attention more frequently is the tires. The last thing you want is a blowout on the highway, so keeping your tires in good condition and making sure to replace them with new or used tires when needed, will help keep your vehicle safe.

Things to watch for include bulging of the tires, wobbling or the wearing down of the tire tread. Have a professional check if you aren`t sure about something and keep your tires inflated the proper amount to make sure they last as long as possible.

Dashboard Lights
Believe it or not, the little 'Check Engine' and 'Check Oil' lights tend to break down sooner than many other vehicle parts. While it may be tempting to just ignore the fact that your overheating warning is on all the time, these are guides to help you stay on top of potential problems with the car and should be repaired.

Oil
One of the more frequent auto repairs required involves the motor oil. If your vehicle goes through too much, you will want to have a mechanic take a look and see if there isn`t a leak in the system that can be repaired. Without oil, your vehicle won`t function, so be vigilant of the levels and be sure to top up when required.

Lights
Taillights in particular tend to burn out and it`s easy to miss the fact that you don`t have a turn signal until the police pull you over. Electrical system failures can also cause problems. Lights are important as they are how we signal our intentions to other drivers. Incorrect use (blinking turn signals when your signal is off, etc.) can cause accidents and misunderstandings that may end up being quite serious. Check your lights, front and back, for proper functioning on a regular basis and have them repaired as soon as you notice they aren`t working.

Maintaining a vehicle and ensuring that it is safe to drive is part of being a responsible driver. It helps to understand which areas of the car are most likely to break down and to give these extra attention.

Car Interior Repair

A new car does not need any car interior repair but as it grows older, you will need to pay special attention. The dashboard, leather items, carpets, seat covers, door panels, etc. need to be either replaced or repaired.

Start the car interior repair from painting the dashboard. First of all, remove all the parts that you can and wash them in warm water with dish soap added to it. Use a soft cloth to clean the other interior parts such as steering wheel, door panels, dashboard, etc. Cover the other areas then rub the plastic parts and affected area with a fine-grade sand paper. Again clean up and apply good quality of primer on the areas you want to paint. Allow to dry and finally apply the proper re-paint color that is specially designed for your car type. A vinyl repair kit is the best option or dash cover is good choice in case of ample damage. Many dash covers are available that can match the carpet color in your car.

The loose headliner at times may be irritating and awkward. The fabric headliners in old cars were not a big problem, but the flabby headliner in modern cars may be disturbing at times specially while driving the car. If not repairable you need to change the whole set and it might cost you a big amount if done from a specialist. The headliner material and replacement kits are easily available in the market and you can easily fix the problem without hiring the professional.

The carpets in your car play an important role in car interior repair. The faded and damaged carpets in your car give a dull feeling inside the car. Replacing the whole carpet on your own can be a good option. Its easy job and many replacement carpets are available in the market that will perfectly fit your car model. You just need to remove the seats, door still plates, center console, and seat belts. The old carpet can be easily removed if not pasted originally. If bonded with some material it may take some time. Finally clean up the floor surface and install the new carpet. You can even follow the detail instructions in the manual provided while buying the carpet.

The car interior repair is incomplete without repairing the damaged leather seat covers. If the tear is small, the vinyl sealant can simply do the job. A vinyl repair kit is available for larger tear. These kits are provided with filler paste in a variety of colors that can match your interior. Also, you have the option of fabric repair kits for small holes in your seat cover. Protecting your seats is vital because it plays a major role while selling the car. The impressive and well-maintained seat covers can always add a great value to your car.

It is not always the case that you need a professional to do the car interior repair. The minor problems can be solved on your own. All types of company kits and manuals are available in the market. Well, one thing is sure the minor problem is the cause of major difficulty in future. Hence, it is important to detect them and repair in the first stage itself.

Serious Car Accidents Often Lead to Whiplash

Car accidents can be quite violent. It isn't too often that people walk away from these fender benders unscathed. The most common car accident injury claim following a crash is whiplash and similar ailments involving you back and neck. The sudden impact of a car accident causes your head to be suddenly thrown backwards and sideways. This leads to your bones, discs, muscle tendons, and nerves in your neck and upper back to become swollen and inflamed to the point of being quite painful.

You may not even realize you are suffering from a whiplash injury but you'll definitely know something is wrong because of the stiffness in your muscles and pain in the back, neck, jaw, arms or shoulders. Back and neck injuries like whiplash injuries are diagnosed through radiological examinations and medical imaging. You'll be taken for x-rays and MRI's to make sure your spine is in proper alignment which is affected due to the trauma of the impact. This is also mandatory as part of your road traffic accident claim.

Some whiplash sufferers tell in their car accident injury claim that they also have feelings of nausea, blurred vision and difficulty in swallowing. Serious injuries such as memory loss, impaired concentration, personality changes like nervousness and depression may also warrant a car accident compensation claim due to whiplash injury. These signs can begin immediately following the impact, while other times they won't manifest for few hours or days later.

Normally, these painful symptoms last for a period of days but it isn't abnormal for some episodes to last anywhere up to six months. Pain relievers and muscle exercises are prescribed as a means of dealing with the problem. In more severe car accident compensation claim circumstances, the symptoms of whiplash can last over a period of several years, or worse yet permanent damage.

Many people don't realize that they are entitled to a road traffic accident claim, especially if they are suffering needlessly from an accident that wasn't even their fault. Contact a personal injury solicitor immediately following an accident to assist you with any legal questions you may have about filing a car accident compensation claim.

As far as the legality of it, these types of claims are said to be no win no fee. The plaintiff is only required to pay lawyer fees if they successful with their case. In many of these personal injury cases, the lawyer normally offers a 100% compensation guarantee. If your whiplash claim is successful, they recover their legal costs, along with a success fee from the third party insurance company. The great thing about all of this is you are not required to pay for anything from start to finish.

Anne is a legal expert passionate about handling your road traffic accident claim, with ease, speed and professionalism. Trust your case to a dynamic attorney. A car accident injury claim solicitor can act swiftly on your behalf to obtain car accident compensation claim.

Remote Car Starters

James Bond had it, now you want it. A remote car starter allows a driver to turn-on the ignition of his car from a distance. Sure, maybe it's not on your 007 wristwatch, but there are a number of solutions out there from companies like Crimestopper, Audiovox, Directed, Viper, and Python.

So what can you do with these remote engine starters? The primary purpose for remote starters is convenience. You could warm up your car that is out in frigid weather while you're staying warm indoors. You could also do the same in blistering hot weather; remotely turn-on your engine with the A/C switch on so that it's nice and cool by the time you get in. Another purpose for remote ignition is security reasons. Whether you're a male or a female, it's always nice to have your car ready to go whenever you are, especially when you are in shady parts of town. And of course, the last purpose to having remote starters is the show-off factor because it completes the true wow-element of your vehicle. After all, who doesn't want to show off like James Bond?

There are a few things to be mindful of. Virtually every remote car start kit includes vehicle security and of course with that, they include some kind of remote. The pricing on these remote start security systems depend mostly on the abilities of the remote. I know it sounds crazy, but it's the truth. In essence, the price is based upon how smart your system is.

The more buttons the remote has, the more money it'll cost, because the more buttons usually mean more programmable functions such as keyless entry, arm/disarm, delayed starts, valet mode, and multi-tone activation. Another consideration is the ability for the system to communicate 2-way rather than just the typical 1-way. Think of your remote as your pager. 2-Way remotes allow the system to not only be controlled remotely by the user but also communicate to the user any disturbance to the car. This is crucial if you're dining out or shopping at the mall and your car is out of your sight. 2-Way remotes typically features a small LCD display to tell you exactly what's going on and they usually have obvious indicators to represent different things on your car that is disturbed (if your car is equipped with the sensors). Some systems indicate glass-breakage indicators or vicinity alarms to specify exact disturbances.

Another crucial aspect to consider is of course the range of your remote. Please remember that just because a product say that they feature a max range of 6000ft. means it's always going to be consistently 6000ft. Conditions would have to be perfect to reach that kind of consistency and range. The longest range I've heard anyone had for these systems is around 1500ft. that's about of a mile. This is great range for you since you could walk around for mile and not have to worry about your precious car.

Lastly, remember that once you wire your vehicle up for remote ignition, it is possible for thieves to steal your remote's code and frequency allowing them to impersonate you through their remote and driving off with your car. Though the possibility of this is unlikely, it is still possible. Some systems feature code-hopping countermeasures, allowing your system to change codes frequently to prevent thieves from finding the same exact code your system use for arming and disarming the system-giving an astronomically impossible combination of codes to be deciphered. Again with this added feature, expect the price to be higher.

In summary, I would suggest that you find a remote car starter system that is adequate for your needs. If you do want features, keep in mind that for each additional feature, there will be additional costs. I hope I have helped you in your decision making process. Good luck!

The Twenty Fastest Muscle Cars

From the mid to early 1970's a new breed of cars ruled the American streets. The majority of these were intermediate sized automobiles with large block engines stuffed inside. At first these cars were called "super cars" and over time they became know more accurately as muscle cars. The quarter mile was the performance standard and weekend drag racing became very popular.

Many of these cars pulled weekday duty as commuter vehicles, taking their proud owners to work and school. But, on the weekend the guys at the wheel were full fledged "amateur" dragsters. For the first time (and many would argue the only time) in American automotive history, high performance vehicles were available to the masses. The average Joe with a decent job could go to his local dealership and drive away with a ground pounding, tire smoking muscle car. Additionally, in a time before complicated emission controls and computer chips, an average Joe could actually working on his pride.

As the list of the twenty fastest muscle cars points out, the majority of the beasts had domesticated roots. The Road Runners, Chevelles and Chargers were all basic family cruisers. What made them special was those wonderfully powerful big block engines. Even the Camaros and 'Cudas were decent transportation for the young man with a couple of small children. Only the Corvettes and the Cobra were initially created as sports cars.

As everyone over this generation knows, the muscle car became extinct in the early 1970's. Rising fuel costs, rising insurance premiums and new safety concerns marked the end of this era. Today the original muscle cars are one of the hottest automotive collectables. Men of a certain age are aggressively bidding for the car of their youthful dreams.

So take a look at the list and see who really owned the streets when muscle cars reigned supreme. For more information about all the great Muscle Cars of the past visit Muscle Car Facts.

Car Audio Wiring

A significant part of your entire car audio system consists of just wires. There are all kinds of cables and wires involved in installing a car audio system. You have power wires, speaker wires, amplifier cables, power capacitors, and what not. It is always better to be equipped with at least the basics before you go in for car audio installation.

The power wire is an important part of the amplifier installation. Select the proper gauge and fusing. A proper gauge prevents the amplifier from being choked off by the size limitations of the wire. Choose power wires with lots of strands, so that they are easier to install and don't break while passing through the numerous corners of the car. The jacket of the wire should be of a material, which can resist chemicals like oil and battery acids, which can wreak havoc on substandard wires.

You can go for wires with large number of strands for the car audio speaker wires. The jacket is not that important in this case, because the speaker is not placed in regions where it could encounter chemicals, as in the case of power wires. Oxygen free copper wiring is always recommended for car audio speaker wires. The size of the speaker wiring depends on the power going in to your speakers and the total length between the amplifier and the speakers.

Signal cables are otherwise known as RCA cables and assume importance for their noise rejection properties. Try and go in for a quality RCA cable, which would ensure trouble free performance in the long run. It is recommended that you go in for "twisted pair" cables. They are better at noise reduction. Needless to say, the quality of wires connecting car audio power capacitors and batteries should also be good.

One can find extensive information on car audio wiring by visiting online resources on the subject. Perhaps car audio professionals are best placed to offer you great advice on car audio wiring.

Car Games

Be it bumper to bumper traffic, or a ride to Grandma's house-- long car rides can do a number on any group of people, specifically families. The following is a list of some car games to consider playing with the whole gang!

The ABC Game is popular with a younger crowd, as it only requires knowledge of the alphabet. To play, each person in the car must try and complete the entire alphabet by identifying letters they see on license plates or billboards. When a letter is located, it is called out, and then eliminated. The first person to complete the entire alphabet wins.

A fun game that I especially enjoy is called "Word Justifying". One person in the car is the leader, and the others are the players. Each person thinks of a word. The players announce their words first, and then the leader announces his word at the end. The players then each take turns justifying why their word is most related to the leader's word. A winner is chosen, and the winner becomes the new leader.

When you are driving for a long period of time in the country or in other rural areas, it may be fun to play games involving the animals you see along the way. Assign points to each kind of animal. For instance, cows are worth two points, cats worth one, farm animals worth four or five, and so on. The first person in the car that reaches twenty is the winner.

Variations on twenty questions can always be fun, and occupy lots of time. Someone in the car chooses to be a person, place, or thing. Everyone else in the car can ask that person up to twenty 'yes or no' questions about it in the hopes of narrowing down their guesses enough to the point where they can figure it out! Whoever guesses correctly is the next person to be grilled.

Music games can be fun, and also test trivia knowledge in the car. Someone hums a part of a television show theme or score to a movie, and everyone else takes turns guessing which song it is. Whoever guesses correctly is next! For older or more enthusiastic players, try seeing who can recite all the lyrics to a song instead of guessing the title.

The Cow Game is another classic, and can be altered easily based on what's most fun. Ideally, the car is split into sides, and each side counts as many cows on their end as possible. Whenever a cemetery is passed, the side of the car it is on loses all their points and has to start over. Whoever has the most points by the end wins!

Cheap Old Cars For Sale - Government Seized Car Auctions

If you are on a tight budget you might want to consider buying cheap old cars for sale, either online or from used car dealers. There are also many old cars being sold through auction, which is one of the best ways in getting cars at a greatly reduced price. Most online car auctions will feature both old and later models, and you expect that most bidders will aggressively contest for the later models driving the price high.

The good news however, most old cars will be sold at a very cheap price to speed up their disposal.

What you must need to remember though is to make sure that parts are still available in the market for replacement and maintenance purposes. This is to ensure that you will be able to enjoy your car and improve its appearance as well as its performance, especially if you know something about mechanics.

Take the time to inspect in detail all the aspect of the car that you are interested in, and never do it in a hurry. Test drive to get a feel of the car performs, and if you're not keen in car engines and all its jargon, it would be best to bring along someone who has some knowledge to help you in your inspection.

You can buy cheap old cars either directly from owners, car dealers or auction houses. The choice is yours, although the pertinent details remain the same. Make sure that registration papers are complete as well as safety standards and other documents included in the purchasing of vehicles.

Government seized car auctions is one good way to buy used cheap cars. Not many people know you can buy cars from the government and this helps to keep the bidding price low. Since the cars need money to be maintained and stored, the government agencies are more than willing to sell these seized cars at cheap prices.

You can often find used seized cars that are still brand new, less than a year old being sold for more than 90% off the retail market value.

If you are looking to buy cheap seized cars from government auto auctions, check out gov auctions. Check out my Gov Auctions review and learn how to buy seized cars at 90% off retail prices.

Car Refinancing

Okay, so the car loan you received has a very high interest rate and you notice that there are better car loan packages available. With the economy going up and down the way it is, many loan companies and credit corporations are able to offer those consumers with good credit lower interest rates. If you wound up with a car loan that is at a high interest rate, you may look to car loan refinancing to help.

Often times young consumers wind up paying a higher interest rate because of either no credit history, or not enough history. This means that their first car loan could be at a pretty high interest rate. It's important for these young consumers to understand that once they have paid on their car for a year or so, there's a possibility they can refinance their car package at a lower interest-rate and possibly save thousands over the length of loan.

The same can be said for many other refinancing packages. Whether it's a mortgage, property package, or even some credit card companies, as soon as you've proven a credit history and that you pay your bills, refinancing or finding better interest rates can really save you some money. It's easy to refinance, but remember that most refinancing packages or going to charge you loan fees. You have to weigh the interest rate difference against those fees in order to find out if you're going to come out ahead with a lower interest rate.

If you're a young consumer and have received car financing and been paying your car payment for a while, go to your financial institution or the bank you have your checking account with and talk to them about refinancing your car. Car refinancing, if you have good credit history, is a great way to possibly save thousands over the total cost of your car. It's important that you take advantage of any lower interest rates that may be available to you through refinancing for your vehicle loan.

Unfortunately, for those who have bad credit or who have been unable to make their payments on time, credit refinancing is going to cost you quite a bit more money. Although it may help in the long run, especially if you can borrow enough against your car to pay off your credit card debts, the interest rate is going to be quite a bit higher on your car refinancing package than someone whose credit history is good.

Remember, car refinancing is a way to get a lower interest rate and save money over the length of your loan. Make sure you thoroughly understand any refinancing package contract terms, as well as repossession terms and refinancing interest rates.

The site features different advises about Refinancing it also gives information about car refinancing, mortgage financing, home mortgage refinancing, and bad credit refinancing. Just visit http://www.refinancingratestips.com/

Elderly Car Accidents

Experts have successfully identified some of the major causes of car accidents, and a driver distraction such as using a cell phone, is one of them. However, apart from driver distractions, another major factor that experts have identified as a cause of car accidents is the age of the driver. Studies have shown that there is a higher incidence of car accidents among drivers in certain age groups. These groups include young people between the ages of 16 and 20 who are inexperienced drivers and the elderly who are 70 years or older. The elderly have certain physiological manifestations that develop with old age that can hinder their driving ability.

One of the most common problems the elderly face is poor vision. Poor vision is not only a complication of old age, but it is also a complication of many diseases including diabetes, which causes vision to blur. The reflexes of an elderly person are also slower. This in turn slows down the reaction time of an elderly driver making it difficult to make split-second decisions that could prevent an accident. Older people tire easily, making driving longer distances a challenge. This could lead to an elderly person falling asleep at the wheel, causing a serious, if not deadly, accident. Many elderly Americans are facing the day when their driver's license will be taken away. Unfortunately, when an elderly person has severe limitations behind the wheel, there is no other choice. Taking away a driver's license to someone who is used to independence is a tough step, but it does help save the lives of many elderly drivers and ensures the safety of others on the road.

Car Radiator

From the days when Daimler Benz and Ford rolled out the first production cars over a century ago, to the modern day Ferraris and Jaguars, cars have always been one of mans greatest fantasies. The thrill of burning rubber is something everyone at least thinks about sometimes. However, few car owners realize the intricacies that lie under the hood of the car.

A cars engine has several hundred parts that are constantly in motion. Any sort of movement gives rise to friction, which in turn produces heat. In a car, motor oil is pumped throughout the engine block to lubricate the parts, but this is insufficient to overcome the tremendous heat generated. To counter this problem, the radiator is put to use. A car radiator is a heat-exchanging device that keeps the engine cool by getting rid of excess heat through the radiation process.

A cars radiator, usually made of an aluminum tube, is bent into several folds to form a rectangular shape. The purpose of this design is to maximize the surface area. The radiator is filled with a liquid coolant, usually a mixture of water and ethylene glycol. As the heated coolant moves from the engine block to the radiator, it gets cooled because of the aluminum body of the radiator that dissipates the heat. In most cases, an electric fan forces the cool air from outside into the radiator, thus speeding up the cooling process.

The radiator cap, known as a pressure cap, regulates the pressure generated by the steam within the radiator. Once a predetermined level of pressure is reached, the radiator cap gives way to release the excess pressure and avoid any explosion under the cars bonnet.

The car radiator should be well maintained in order to get optimum engine performance. It should be regularly checked for blockages in the path of the coolant that may hamper the cooling process. Apart from this, one should also regularly refill the coolant in order to enjoy a wonderful and safe car ride.

Car Audio Capacitors - Why You Can't Do Without Them

I've heard the question asked many times before, 'Do I really need a capacitor?' Before answering that question I ask, 'Do you have a high powered system?' 'Does it require sudden power bursts?' 'Is your amplifier being robbed of power?' If the answers to my questions are yes, make every effort to connect a capacitor to your car audio system.

A capacitor is a bit similar to your car battery; it stores electrical energy. But unlike a battery it doesn't produce its own power, it simply stores it. A car audio capacitor will help you get the most from your amplifier. It will store power for release on demand, delivering it to your amplifier just when it's needed.

Your car amplifier requires a lot of power to play loud music, especially when there's lots of heavy bass. Without a capacitor your amplifier will be robbed of power by parts like your lights, engine, and air conditioner.

So what happens when your car audio amplifier doesn't receive enough power?

A common occurrence is dimming lights. In such a situation the light will follow the beat of the music. The light will dim each time a heavy bass note sounds. If you were to turn off the lights, your car stereo system would suddenly sound louder and the music would be cleaner.

Your amplifier is simply trying to use more energy than the electrical system can supply. If a capacitor had been present there would have been enough energy to power your amp. That electrical energy would have already been stored.

When you want to reduce headlight dimming, improve bass response, and increase the power of your amp, a stiffening capacitor is a must. Equipped with capacitor and an adequate power supply, your system will get every bit of current it needs. Voltage drops will be a thing of the past.

With so many brands available online, it's easy to find a capacitor that meets your needs. You can choose from popular brands like Phoenix-Digital, Blitz-Audio, Kole-Audio, Pyramid, SoundStorm, Lanzar, Power-Acoustik, Pyle, Legacy, Nitro-BMW, SPL, and Volfenhag. No longer will your car amplifier be hungry for power.

Another Movie Car

Judge Dredd was one of Sylvester Stallone's films however not one of his most successful ones. According to some of the critics, the props were the stars of the show and one of these was a customized Land Rover.

The year is 2139 and the setting is Mega City (our present New York City). American society has deteriorated into a state of barbarianism. Violence is the order of the day. Neighborhoods engage in gang wars and are patrolled by street judges who are combination judges, juries and executioners. However, New York, today or in the future, would not be New York without a taxi service. Enter the taxis of the future, the 'city cabs.'

According to the specifications, the vehicles had to accommodate six passengers in a maximum protective environment. So, as one might imagine, the vehicle resembled a tank mounted on wheels with rubber tires.

It was a right hand drive vehicle with two tiny windows in the front. There were no back or side windows. Therefore, in order to drive the vehicle, a driver and a navigator were needed. The driver controlled the vehicle from behind the wheel while the navigator watched for traffic. In order to see through the windshield, the driver had to tilt his head from side to side while leaning forward.

To get into the vehicle, one had to step up on the front tire and crawl inside without falling.

In 2139 Land Rovers are the world's only vehicles. So the 'city cabs' were custom built on a Land Rover 101 Forward Control chassis. The green oval logo is visible on the front.

The Land Rover 101 Forward Control had originally been built for the British Army to tow a L118 field gun together with a ton of ammunition and other equipment. It also had to be easy to transport by air.

Consequently, the engine was placed under and to the rear of the cab and the front hood was eliminated. This resulted in a cube shape, which made it space efficient during air transport. This basic shape also contributed to the futuristic appearance of the 'city cabs.' Other 'futuristic' features are the large wheels and tires. There is a 'wheel step' for the crew to use to enter the vehicle.

At the time the film was conceived, Land Rover had a designer, David Woodhouse, who had experimented with work on futuristic Land Rovers and already had some ideas to use for the 'city cabs.' So Land Rover's design team, led by Gordon Sked, submitted their ideas to the producers and Land Rover was awarded the contract to produce thirty-one vehicles

They modified the 101's by removing the body and replacing it with a fiberglass body equipped with the small windows in the front and the one small fiberglass door. To emphasize the cuboid appearance all rounded edges or panels were eliminated. The wheels were also extended ten inches. All of these modifications combined provided the aggressive, futuristic look that the vehicles displayed in the film.

There are still several of these vehicles in existence. While not easy to drive, they are in drivable condition and often turn up at Land Rover events.

Car Engine Cranks Over But Doesn't Start - Automotive Repair Tips

Many times in the past as an automotive technician, I would be given a car to diagnose that either had a problem that prevented the car's engine from turning over or that prevented the car's engine from starting. These are two completely different scenarios and these problems are approached differently. Sometimes when the service writer would create a work order, he wouldn't convey the REAL problem that the customer was experiencing. If the customer or the service writer would make sure the correct explanation of the problem is written, some unnecessary trips out to the car with the wrong tools would be avoided. For instance if the car doesn't crank over at all, I would need to take my jump box with me. And if the car cranked over but didn't start, I would want my scan tool and some starting fluid.

A car that cranks over but doesn't start, in many cases will be due to a bad fuel pump, a broken timing belt, an inoperative cam sensor or crank sensor. The first step in diagnosing a no start is to scan for codes with a code reader or scan tool. Approximately 40% of the cars towed in that I worked on in the last 25 years, either had a bad fuel pump or the fuel gage read incorrectly and the car was just out of fuel. Yes, some people actually have their cars towed in when all they need is some gas! If the fuel gage indicates that there is fuel in the tank, most people will assume naturally that the car does have fuel. But if the fuel sending unit or gage is off slightly, the car's gas tank could actually be empty. One of the easiest ways to check for a fuel pump related problem is to spray a little starting fluid into the air intake while trying to start the car. If the car starts momentarily, then there's a good chance the fuel pump is not working or the car is out of gas. You can also listen for the fuel pump's humming sound when the key is first turned on. Also if a inoperative fuel pump is suspected, a good technician will always check to verify there is power and ground being supplied to the pump, to eliminate the possibility of a bad relay or electrical issue. Fuel pressure can be checked with a pressure gage and if there is pressure, pulse can be checked at the fuel injectors in several ways including the most common, with the use of noid lights. If the injectors don't have pulse the engine won't start.

Broken timing belts also caused about 40% of the tow ins in my experience. A broken timing belt can fail causing the car to seem as if it ran out of fuel while driving. When trying to start the car though, the engine typically spins over faster than normal due to the engine having low compression from the timing being off and the valves being open at the wrong time. If the timing belt breaks, there sometimes could be a code set in the vehicles ECU (Electronic Control Unit) for no signal from the cam sensor. If this code is present, you can sometimes check to see if the cam is moving by removing the oil cap while someone engages the starter. Also the upper timing cover can be removed to allow access to the timing belt for inspection. Most of the time when a timing belt breaks the teeth (or cogs) are stripped down at the crank pulley the bottom sprocket preventing the belt from turning the camshaft.

Lack of pulse from the fuel injectors as stated before can prevent a car from running. This brings me to the third most common cause of a car that cranks over but doesn't start, approximately 20% of the tow ins that I worked on had the following problem. Many times the cause of lack of pulse is because of a bad cam or crank sensor. If the computer doesn't see either the crank or the cam turning, the fuel injectors won't be commanded to pulse. One quick indication that a cam or crank sensor may be bad is to check for RPM movement on the tachometer (if equipped) when trying to start the engine. If you have a scan tool not just a code reader, the cam and crank sensor data can be checked on many vehicles by accessing the appropriate screen. If no revolutions are shown when attempting to start the car, the respective sensor could be bad.

Obviously there are many vehicle makes, with different ignition and fuel delivery systems that may require a service manual to properly diagnose or to delve deeper. But with the above tips and tricks that I've used over the years you'll be checking the most likely causes, that hopefully will send you in the right direction.

Car Wraps - The Future Of Advertising

There are many companies using a new visual marketing strategy that requires no billboard space or conventional poster advertisements. Instead they are turning to a variety of modes of transportation to carry their ads and reach a greater market than could ever be possible with stationary advertising. Think of it as mobile marketing or advertising on wheels. Mobile advertising is certainly nothing new. We see it on cabs and mass transit busing every day but one of the latest innovations in traveling ads is the car wrap.

These not only look unique but they also capture attention with their vibrant colors and bold graphics, just perfect for getting the word out there. Possibly one of the most familiar uses of the car wrap can be found in the sports car racing industry. Sponsors pay to have the bright and colorful wraps and put on the race cars, and with the growing popularity of the sport, they get nation wide coverage.

Any car will work with car wraps and if you should need your own advertising, what better way to promote your business as you drive around. Your car will even be working for you while its parked. So instead of spending all of your advertising dollars on conventional marketing, why not go mobile? Advanced technology and improved graphics have propelled the demand for vinyl car graphics to an all time high. By doing it yourself, you can use anything from basic do it yourself vinyl stickers and decals, to the complete wrap and your four wheels becomes your very own colorful billboard ready get the attention of your target market.

Successful mobile advertising isnt only limited to the vehicle wrap which covers the entire vehicle, but advertisers can choose to use window graphics as well. Car window graphics can be applied by the same companies that do the car wraps. With the use of perforated vinyl window graphics, you can get vinyl letters or graphics applied to your windows for a fraction of the cost of a complete wrap.

Not only do they look very unique but they are real attention getters, when it comes to getting the word out about your company. Your everyday vehicle can use a car wrap and be used to catch the eye of potential customers and if you have a limited advertising budget it can definitely be an option in helping you reach a larger market.

Electric Car Conversion Kit - How to Build Your Own EV at Home

Electric car conversion kits are growing in popularity. Many car owners are starting to realize that converting their vehicles to run on electricity can save them a lot of money on gas and help the environment at the same time.

By building your own electric car you will:

  1. Slash your gas costs to zero.
  2. Get massive IRS refunds for driving an environmentally-friendly vehicle.
  3. Start enjoying a smoother, quitter ride.
  4. Stop emitting greenhouse gas and toxic fumes and help save the earth.

To turn a vehicle into an EV, you will need to take out the internal combustion engine and replace it with the electric motor.

Some other parts you need to install are: rechargeable batteries, power controller and power conductors, which can be found in any auto-shop. The best cars to retrofit are light weight vehicles with space for batteries. Even if you have little mechanical skills, you can still turn your car to run on electricity, if you follow a set of detailed plans.

After the conversion you will be able to drive 100 - 200 miles on a single charge and travel at about 55 mph. The technology to run an automobile on electricity has been proven to work, but up until now it was too expensive to use.

Paying a mechanic to turn an existing vehicle into an electric car can cost $3,000-$8,000. Fortunately recently many diy electric car conversion manuals have been introduced to the market, which offer step-by-step instructions on how to easily convert any vehicle to run on electric power and save tons of money on gas. This way the conversion will cost you less than $300(parts included).

Do you want to completely eliminate your gas bill?

Chose the best Electric Car Conversion Kit and build your very own Electric Vehicle!

The Z Car History

In 1970 it all began, Datsun released a spectacular sports car the 240Z or as known in Japan as the Fairlady Z. This Japanese manufactured vehicle competed with the best of them. It competed with European and American manufactures in not only performance but as well with its high quality sexy appeal. Not only did it beat them on the track and street but it beat them as well when it came to pricing. The 240Z is what opened up the door for the unbeatable world of Japanese imports we have today. The 240Z was the Japanese car that so many people desired. It was so desired that many of the buyers would have been willing to pay far more for it. The 240Z was the breakthrough that started it all for the entire Japanese automobile industry. The stereotypical opinion that Japanese Imports were second best second best suddenly changed and now they are among the best.

Over the next 26 years following the release of the Datsun 240Z, Datsun became Nissan. At that point the Z grew and grew with Nissan producing many models. The 260Z, 280Z, 280ZX, 300ZX all in different styles and trims. After all this the Z car slowly began to disappear from the United States. After being away for a while Nissan decided it was time to bring it back. They came back to America seven years later with the new Z, known as the 350Z. . The Z currently holds the record for the best selling sports cars of all time with well over 1.6 million sold in over the five generations it's been in existence.

The Newest of the Z car, the 350Z is not only good looking, reliable, and a strong performer but it is as well affordable. With its front mounted engine and two doors it is designed to appeal to every ones eyes. The 350Z emerged after the Nissan 300zx was taken off the U.S. Market back in 1996. The 350z resembles the original Z with a much more modern look. The engine within the beast is a VQ35DE, a strong reliable engine that produces mass amounts of torque. The 350z has the typical layout of all Z cars, a long nose with a short back. It is there to perform with the best. After all it does have a history to live up to.

Choosing Car Paint

Choosing a paint color for your automobile is much more then personal preference. There are some other things that should be taken into account. Some of these things include the type of car that you have, the cost, how a paint color affects your resale value and functionality. We will talk a little bit about each of these things below.

It is important to note that just because you like a color doesn't mean that it will look good on your type of car. Some colors just don't look good on certain types of cars. Now, of course, a lot of this is personal opinion, but it would you hard to imagine a BMW in a bright yellow color, it just wouldn't look good. Another thing to consider is cost. You may be able to secure a certain brand of base coat for around between $200 and $400 a gallon. Some colors are going to be a lot more expensive, and this includes custom and not custom colors. What you will want to do it is choose a color and then visit either an auto shop or paint store and see what your options are in terms of cost, color, partners and sealers.

Resale value is also a very important part of choosing a paint color for your car. If you want to have the best chance of being able to sell your car down the line, it is very important that you don't go with loud or odd colors that most people won't appreciate. So if you're considering re-selling your car down the line, be sure that you don't get trendy with car colors. This will increase your chances that your car will be easy to sell. Go with colors that are timeless.

There are also functional reasons to decide on a certain color. For example, you may want to hide or soften body lines on the car. You may also want a car that doesn't show dirt easily. Wanting your car to look larger or smaller may also determine what color of car you will choose. And while individuals who are car enthusiasts, may consider function more than simply liking a particular color, it should be important to everyone.

So when they are considering purchasing paint for their car, don't simply go with "well, I like this color." You should consider the cost of a particular color, the function of car, the type of car that you have, which may include make, model and body type. You also want to think carefully about how choosing a certain color will affect the resale value of your car. Remember to stay away from trendy colors because they will make it more difficult to resale your car later on. You will not want to have to pay for a new paint job on a car that you are looking to sale and no longer want. Therefore, take some time and put a little thought into the color you want your car painted. What may seem cool and trendy today could be a source of stress when you need to sale it or trade it in, a few years down the line.

Car Paint Scratch Repair

Many people around the world have great affection for their cars. They care a lot and even a single scratch makes them uncomfortable. Anyway, there is no need to worry about such minor problems because the car paint scratch repair is not a hard task in recent days. A minor scratch can be easily repaired but if it is a major one you really need help of one professional car painter. It is obvious that a car will get a scratch or two and there is nothing you can do about it. The only thing you can do is take proper precaution while parking in or away from homes.

The most important part in car paint scratch repair is to fix the scratch in early stage. There is no need of any expensive tools to fix it. You can just put in your fingernail over the surface and find out whether it is deep into the paint or just sitting on top of it. The scratch on top can be easily removed with acetone or polish thinner. If still remain you can use polishing compound to remove the scratch. Many times a mark appears because of rub against certain items such as rubber, plastic or other paint. This is not a scratch and it can be easily removed by using aerosol tar.

Car paint scratch repair can be easily done even if the scratch is long and deep. The first step is to wash the affected section with soapy water and dry it. In general, you can use black shoe polish for red color car or white shoe polish for dark color cars to fix the scratch. Sand the damaged area with dry sandpaper until they come to same level. Blow away all dust by using a brush. The next step is to apply body compound to the scratch area and wait until it hardens. After hardening, you can apply primer paint and wait until the area dries up completely. Finally, you can apply the touch-up paint that perfectly suits your car by using special touch-up brush.

Car paint scratch repair can be easy by using the above method but the primer paint will not apply to the cars with enamel paints. Many new cars have the enameled paints and will not mix well with the lacquer based primer paint. Hence, the best way is to take help of some specialist or local auto shop before proceeding. You can just provide them your vehicle identification number that will enable you to get the better idea.

If the scratch is deep enough on the entire door, it is nice idea to allow the car painter to do the job. In such cases, the painter repaints the entire panel and this will provide your car the original look. Well, the scratch is a common thing that is bound to happen at certain times. There is no need to bother, as the car paint scratch repair is not a difficult.

Car Rental Insurance

Wherever in the world you are planning to hire a car, you can be certain that the cost of car rental insurance will be at least as much as the hire of the vehicle itself. The insurance is vital, of course, to indemnify the hirer not only against third party liabilities but other damage to the vehicle or its theft, resulting in the loss of its use. With the car rental insurance bill absorbing such a high proportion of the cost, therefore, it is good news to discover that those costs can be considerably reduced - by as much as a half - by arranging all the necessary insurance separately, in advance, whether the proposed rental will be in the UK or elsewhere in the world.

Taking advantage of such cost reductions is simply a question of buying all the necessary insurance cover in advance from a company specialising in this area. Separating the two forms of business in this way allows the customer to concentrate on the car rental firm for doing what it does best - renting cars - and leaving the car rental insurance to the experts in the field of motor insurance.

For example, whether the car hire is being arranged in the UK, Europe or North America, the quoted rate is likely to include a relatively large proportion to cover third party liabilities and accidental damage to the vehicle (generally termed a Collision Damage Waiver) and theft. In most parts of the world (with the exception of the United States), the Collision Damage Waiver will include an excess, which is the uninsured element of any accidental damage to the vehicle and which therefore remains the responsibility of the hirer him or herself.

If an excess is to be applied, this should be made clear by the rental company, together with the level of risk to be borne by the hirer. This is important, since it represents the first part to be paid against any damage incurred and is typically as much as 600 - and in some instances can be as high as 1,000. In order to mitigate such personal risk on the part of the hirer, the rental company will generally offer an optional excess insurance policy to cover the whole or part of the excess. In this way, it would be possible to reduce the hirer's personal liability from the standard 600, for example, to 100 or even to nil.

A more cost-effective way of insuring this excess - and indeed the whole of the car rental insurance - however, can be secured by buying the cover entirely separately from the rental agreement. Specialist, independent insurance providers can arrange the whole of the cover required, either on a single-hire basis or on an annual basis, to cover multiple rental agreements throughout the year. Such cover tends to be considerably cheaper - up to 50% less - than that arranged by the rental company, yet can provide even more extensive protection than the rental company's insurance.

Typical areas of car rental insurance cover, for example, include full Collision Damage Waiver (providing protection against loss, damage, theft or loss of use of the hire car); Supplemental Liability Insurance (extending third party liability limits up to a typical US$1 million - and certainly to be recommended if the rental agreement is for a car in the United States or Canada; cover for damage to the rental vehicle's roof, underside, types and windows (usually excluded from the Collision Damage Waiver); compensation for accidents involving uninsured or hit-and-run third parties; cover for lost keys; and cover for any further excess on the hire car.

A Review of Car HID Lights

Some drivers are not satisfied with the head lights of their car because they are not bright enough. Don't worry. Let me show you another way to replace them with xenon lighting products. Maybe it is difficult for you to buy them on the market for some vehicle manufacturers don't even provide them. It doesn't matter. Now I introduce you Car HID Lights, one of the biggest xenon lighting providers online, which can offer you xenon kits and H.I.D lighting products with various sizes and colors.

What are xenon lighting and HID kits? Maybe you are not familiar with them. It is called Xenon because of the gas name used inside the bulb. Xenon is an odorless, colorless gas which can provide electrical current to emit three times more white light then the standard halogen bulb. Xenon bulbs emit a longer and wider range light with only 40% less electrical current. They also emit a whiter and more luminous color which is more natural to the human eye. The color emulates what the sun emits, which allows for better visibility during the night, raining days and snowing days etc.

Car HID Lights includes almost every kinds of car models online. So you can simply select the collect xenon lights and set them up for your vehicle based on the model information. Each model contains a wide range of color temperatures (e.g. 4300K, 6000K, 8000K, 10,000K, 12,000K and 30,000K) which can meet your personalized needs. The color temperatures mentioned above simply reflect the color output of the bulbs instead of brightness.

So if you want to get quality xenon lighting products and make a conversion upgrade for the head lights of your car, just go and order them.

How To Repair Your Car's Power Windows

As youre driving down the turnpike and approaching the tollbooth, you reach for the switch to lower your window and nothing happens. The switch moves but the window does not budge. Not even a noise from the window motor can be heard which strongly suggests to you that the device is not functioning. You must stop your car and open up the door to pay the attendant before continuing on your trip. Thoughts of an expensive car repair bill are dancing through your head, putting you in a foul mood and tempering the anticipated fun of your getaway weekend. Dont despair: you can repair the power window yourself and save a bundle over expensive dealership charges. Lets take a look at the steps you can take to fix the problem yourself and save a lot of cash in the process.

Before assuming that the window regulator must be replaced you should first rule out the possibility of dirty electrical contacts. On most cars the main power for all switches goes through the master switch located at the drivers console. Sometimes the switch is dirty causing the window to malfunction. If this is the case, take the necessary steps to clean the contact and your problem should be resolved.

Should you determine that the contacts are clean and your switch is functioning, then it is likely that the motor has burned out and is in need of replacing. Whether you are installing a Honda window regulator or a Volkswagen window regulator, or a regulator for any other make the steps involved in replacing a window regulator are usually quite similar:

1. Remove the door panel for the affected window.

2. Locate and remove the bolts holding the regulator to the door; it is likely you will have to manually lower the window in order to access the bolts.

3. Remove the old regulator, disconnect all wiring, and replace the old regulator with a new one you have purchased from a parts supplier. Shop online to find the best value as you will pay a mint if you order one through a dealership.

4. Tighten the bolts holding the new regulator and reinstall the moisture barrier. Make sure all the wires are put back in the door before closing the door panel.

5. Engage the power window switch and the new regulator should work unimpeded.

Of course, follow your cars repair manual for specific instructions.

Ive given to you a general outline to convince you that this is a task that even a novice mechanic can handle in other words: you can do it! By handling the problem yourself, youll save plenty of money by avoiding garages who will mark up the replacement part as well as tack on several hours of labor costs to your bill. Shop online to compare prices and to receive the best shipping and handling arrangements available.

Claiming For a Stolen Car

What do I do when my car is stolen?

1.Your first step is a toss-up between contacting the police or your insurance company with the police a marginal front runner as the insurance company will need a reference number from the police report anyway. This applies even if you do not have comprehensive insurance.

2.Once you have notified your insurer, they will drive the proceedings (not in your car unfortunately). But you will need to supply them with the correct documentation.

3.You will need to give your insurer and the police the following information in order to process the claim.

Proof of ownership of the vehicle, i.e., your vehicle's registration and license details.
Your personal details, including copies of your license, ID, etc.

Description of the car, including identifying characteristics, e.g., two cases of whiskey lying on the back seat, a stuffed Garfield hanging from the rear view mirror and a missing back bumper. You should also mention any special accessories in the car and you will need to prove recent upgrades, i.e., anything that potentially added value to your car but hadn't been communicated yet to your insurer, e.g., "I was on my way home from installing a new system to inform you of the fact."

Contents of the vehicle. This is not the time to get anxious about the safety of the cannabis under the spare tire.

Description of the circumstances under which the car was stolen, including details of where it was parked and whether security features were enabled.

Location of any keys to the vehicle before and after the theft. Location of spare keys.

The names and details of everyone who had access to the vehicle; your daughter's long-haired boyfriend?

Insurance policy number.

Finance or leasing details and account numbers.
Your banking details.

Details of whether you are entitled to a courtesy car.

It cannot be stressed enough that you should make detailed notes of all correspondence, verbal and written, between you and your insurer as well as outside parties. Get the name of every person you speak to and make a note of their contact details and the time you spoke to them. If things get ugly, you will have a record for the Insurance Ombudsman.

You must make your claim as soon as possible.

If you're claiming for a stolen car right now, you're probably also kicking yourself for not having installed a gear lock or immobiliser, having left the garage door open last night, poo-poo'd vehicle tracking devices at last weekend's dinner party when that pompous twit from next door started on his hobby horse, his 4X4 mechanical stallion.

Now that you've taken a shocked and disbelieving re-look at your insurance policy, you realise that there are quite a few terms and conditions (also known as fine print) that you didn't take much notice of when you signed the documents.

Yes, it is too late for now, but not for next time.

When claiming for a stolen vehicle, your insurance policy is a blueprint of the terms and conditions with regard to payment for/ replacement of your vehicle. Let's look at two common scenarios where you may think you are insured but have conveniently forgotten the more detailed terms and conditions of your policy and the commitment(s) you made to secure your vehicle when you took out the policy. If you're having difficulty claiming for a stolen vehicle, it may be because you didn't realise how watertight is the legalese of an insurance document. Don't waste your time arguing with the claims consultant if you haven't kept to your side of the policy bargain.

Anti-theft devices

It is probable that your insurer specified exactly what security devices, e.g., gear lock, immobilizer, tracking device had to be fitted to your car. If they find when you make a claim that you did no such thing, your policy becomes null and void. It is a good idea, in fact, to keep proof of such purchase and fitting in the event the worst case scenario arises and your car is stolen. Remember, the more anti-theft devices you associate with your car, the lower your premium will be. Even a simple gorilla lock will lessen the chances of thieves targeting your vehicle. And always make sure that you fit parts and accessories that are approved by your insurance company.

Overnight parking

When you took out your policy, you will have specified where you park your car at night, e.g., in a locked garage. If your car is stolen because you left open the garage door, your policy becomes null and void.

Yes. They will catch you out. It's called non-disclosure and is a serious offence.

Do I continue car insurance payments after my vehicle is stolen?

Before cancelling your insurance, which is the obvious thing to do, chat to both the police and insurance company to find out what the likelihood is of your car being found. If there is a strong possibility it will be found (statistically, if your car is going to be found, it will probably be located within 3 days), it is worthwhile to continue payments simply to avoid having to go through the whole process of taking out a new policy in a few days.

Last, but not least, if it was a skadonk and you were insured, thank your lucky stars and happy car shopping.

Car Rentals

Renting a car is a tough thing. Well, it can be. But, it doesn't have to be. To find a great deal, or even just a reliable car, you will want to do a little research. Save some extra cash in that pocket!

We used to believe it was simple to rent a car. All you had to do was get off your plane and head to the lonely car rental place right next door. Not so any more. There is competition everywhere. This is good news to you, though. Competition, even with car rentals, means that you will pay off with deals in the long run.

To make this happen, you may have to do your homework. Booking a car rental ahead of time is very wise. In fact, you should not wait until the last minute. Anyone looking for a car rental immediately is more likely to pay higher price then someone who booked their rental a month or even a week in advance. Take the time to investigate the different car rental companies. Compare what they offer and their prices. Never take the first offer either. Get your facts and quotes from several companies first.

You can find car rentals online as well as in your phone book. There is no shortage of companies to talk to. Car rental companies have a lot to offer as well. Consider what you will use the car rental for before you decide on one. Do you really need that car with all the added amenities? Or, do you really just need something to get you back and forth? Making wise decisions regarding your choice in car rentals can save you a nice bit of cash.

Before you rent your next car, be sure to visit http://www.e-travelpromos.com first!

Winter Car Maintenance

Careful attention to your winter car maintenance can help to ensure that your vehicle does what you want it to, when you want it to, whatever freezing temperatures the winter brings or stormy weather conditions. A well-maintained car is a lot less likely to let you down and leave you in the grip of a cold and icy emergency or breakdown.

Tyres

A regular spot of winter car maintenance should take in the tyres, not only for their depth of tread, but just as importantly, their correct pressure. Too low, and they'll wear out more quickly and need the engine to consume more fuel; too high and you could lose the grip that they give on icy roads.

Battery

Obviously, the battery is critical to getting you started, yet an old and weakened battery can lose as much as one third of its power in icy conditions, leaving you in danger of being unable to start the car or taking much longer to do so.

Lubrication

As the cold weather persists it could well be worth considering changing the engine oil to one with a lower than normal viscosity. Such "thinner" oil will help the car start more easily but can also help to reduce friction and wear by getting more quickly to the areas of the engine that need the lubrication.

Wipers

Snow, rain, ice and general dirt from the road can soon wear down the rubber of the wiper blades, so it's worth checking whether they still do a good job. Clear visibility through the window is even more important in hazardous road conditions.

Staying warm

It's not only the occupants who will feel the chill on icy mornings. A cold engine should be allowed to warm up on idle for a minute or two before pulling away, so that the oil has had a chance to reach those parts of the engine where it's most needed.

For warmth on the inside, you and your passengers will appreciate a heating system that's working properly. This is not only for the comfort of passengers, of course, since an effective heater and defroster is important for keeping the windows free from misting up and icing over again, thus ensuring that good visibility is maintained at all times.

Anti-freeze

Since it's winter time it probably shouldn't need saying, but it's surprising how many people fail to check whether the anti-freeze is at the correct concentration. It's unlikely these days that the engine will become frozen solid, but the correct amount of anti-freeze actually helps to keep the engine running at the correct temperature and helps to protect the engine when it needs to be started from an especially icy start.

Winter car maintenance

As you can see, routine winter car maintenance needn't be time consuming or expensive. It doesn't require a major overhaul, but rather, regular attention to a handful of otherwise minor details. A little attention could make the world of difference between a vehicle that's safe to drive in all that the winter might throw at us, and one that's not.

Car Insurance Premiums Suffer From Whiplash

It has been described by the Association of British Insurers as an epidemic - and now new research from the AA shows the true cost of mounting numbers of whiplash personal injury claims.

According to the report, 1,200 people claim for whiplash injuries every day in the UK - an increase of 25 per cent over the last five years. In 2007, there were 430,000 people claiming on their car insurance for whiplash injuries which cost the industry a cool 1.9 billion in compensation.

Unfortunately for car insurance customers, the companies have to get the money to pay for these claims from somewhere - and AA Insurance estimates that whiplash claims hike every car insurance policy in the UK by around 66. This is more than twice the cost of claims for accidents with uninsured drivers.

Whiplash is likely to become an increasingly important factor in future premium increases - already over the last year the average quoted shop-around car insurance premium has leapt by 8.7 per cent. So how can drivers protect themselves and avoid placing further pressure on their premiums?

The first step of course, is to avoid accidents altogether. While you can't always prepare for the actions of others, you can reduce your risk by insuring your vehicle is well-maintained and that you drive within the road rules. Stick to speed limits and leave suitable stopping distances between your car and the vehicle in front - two seconds normally, but double this in icy or wet conditions.

If an accident does occur you could avoid whiplash if you have adjusted your head restraints before driving. The top of the head restraint should be level with the top of the driver's head and it should never be lower than eye level.

Remember that any claim on your car insurance will wipe out a no-claims bonus and bump up your premiums. The only exception is if you take out no-claims discount protection - compare car insurance with a comparison website to find insurers that offer this feature.

Run Your Car on Water Myth Busted

Lately gas prices have been fluctuating like crazy. A few months ago we were paying nearly 5 dollars a gallon for gas, now its back down to less than two bucks a gallon! I mean what happened?

Well since this topic really isn't about the economy as a whole, I am not going to dive into the "why" are gas prices are the way they are. I am going to tell you one thing that happened when gas prices sky rocketed. When gas prices reached the level that they did, eventually people started believing that you could begin to run your car on water and save a lot of money on gas. However not many individuals realized that in order to run your car on water, you needed gas in the car as well, many people referred to this as an HHO Kit.

Once people realized the reality of it, they started to test it out for themselves. The average results ended nearly cutting the average gas bill in half. Yes these things can save you a lot of money, they are not scams, and they can be installed by anyone with a little bit of time, and about a $200 dollar investment. HHO kits may have died down a little because of the decrease in gas prices, but for those who installed this kit a while ago are now paying near to nothing for gas. So not only are you saving money on gas you are also throwing less pollution into the environment while using more through your engine.

90% of all HHO kits are reversible and require no body work.

Are you sick and tired of the rise in gas prices? Are you interested in building your own water powered vehicle? The author has created a review site that provides you with the best DIY Water Conversion Guides on the internet. Start saving money today! - http://waterforgasprograms.info

Classic Car Transport

For classic cars it is important that while you transport your vehicle, choose enclosed auto shipping service. Classic cars should not be driven from point A to point B, but transporting it would be a better option because these cars are not meant to be driven long distances. Classic cars are meant to be displayed in exhibitions. In such a specialized economy, we will see certain things only in certain regions of the country, like that even classic car will be found in some town and you are living in some other place, so with the help of vehicle transport you will be able to receive your classic car at your specified destination.

Once the buyer decides to purchase the car, the second thing that he thinks is how to transport it, in some cases the buyer would pay the cost of his classic car transport, and sometimes the seller of the classic car would include the price of the vehicle transport in the selling price. If the classic car buyer decides to transport his car, he would some research work regarding classic car transporter, and this can be done by looking online or yellow pages. Buying a classic car is a hobby to most collectors, thus they have to choose a reputable classic car transporter who will deliver their car without any damage and at the right time. The older the model, there is more risk attached as the engine might be damaged if you drive the vehicle, so the buyer transports the vehicle.

Enclosed trailers are considered best for classic car, because your car can be protected from sun, heat, rain, snow, dust etc. Some popular trailers for classic car transport are six-car enclosed trailers, four car enclosed trailers, and two car non stacking enclosed trailers. Mostly classic cars are delivered at your door step. Classic car shipping companies use flatbed truck, enclosed single trailer and enclosed rail service to move your classic cars for long distances. Custom equipment is often available upon request. When you are buying a classic car, check all the documents, how long was the car stored as it would be in a better condition. Do see how long was the classic car been advertised for sale? Do check if any damages have occurred in the car, also check the car engine. Do check the inside of the car. Check the hydraulic fluids and water levels. If the car is in a driving condition, take it for a spin.

Earn Money From a Company Advertising on Your Car

Do you have a car? If you do you, could be earning money from placing advertisements on the bodywork. There are literally millions of cars on our road with the potential to earn regular money each month for their owners.

Companies are always looking for new ways to advertise. Advertising on private cars is an area now an established marketing area that many companies take seriously. You just have to think how many people get to see your car in a day. Whether just driving to work and back, parked in a car park, parked outside you house or even on holiday, there will be thousands that get to see you car and even more that will look twice with advertisement and logos attached. You just use your car as normal and watch the pounds roll in each month.

This method of promotion offers tremendous benefits to the company advertiser and guaranteed profit for the car owner. Quite simply a company will agree to pay a sum of money to those who fix stickers advertising them on their car or van. Some companies even offer to give you a vehicle with advertising already set up, effectively free transport, all you have to do is agree to drive it.

There are already millions of people who benefit from this new advertising strategy throughout the Americas and Europe. So, what's the catch?

There are conditions; you also must be at least 18 years of age and have good driving skills. You must be willing to have advertising on your car at all time and wherever you go so effectively you are tied to advertise until the contract ends the ends. There may also be written in the contract that you must agree to drive a certain number of miles per week or month. Not much of a problem if you already drive that agreed distance within your normal driving habits.

Also you may well be contracted to park your car near in urban areas or in a public place with lots of passers by. Advertisers will normally gather this information and other conditions before any contract is made up. What companies don't cover is the costs of insurance, servicing and petrol, you will be liable fore that. On top of this there is the cost of keeping the car clean, in fact spotless, probably on a daily basis so the ads are always clearly visible, this will certainly be a condition of the contract.

Looking at the amounts you can earn from this. You can be paid up to 2000 a month depending on the type of company, how far you drive, the locations driven, and the type of ad and vehicle used. This is obviously the top end of the pay scale, more often the fees for ads on your car will start from around 50 a month and move up from there.

There are several companies offering these services online, and most give lots of information without having to register. So if you fancy the idea, get online and check a few out. By the way, if you are asked for money up front, just don't go any further that that, it is likely it will be a scam.

Finally, if you have a bit of get up and go, it might be worth approaching companies in your area and ask whether they would like some advertising on you car. You may find that many companies have considered this but just haven't done anything about it - You could be in the right place at the right time if that is the case.

Should You Let Your Car Warm Up Before Driving?

Remember those cold mornings when you were a kid? Dad would go out, fire up the station wagon and come inside to drink coffee while the car warmed up. Warming up the car just makes sense, right? Actually, it does not.

There is an old saying that just because 50 million people say something, it doesn't make it true. This is very much the case with the notion of letting your car warm up. You've heard you are supposed to do it and, logically, it seems to make sense. The only problem, of course, is it is nonsense if your car is fuel injected, which most are these days.

First things first - your father was not wrong about warming up the old station wagon. Cars used to have carburetors to handle the fuel input into the engine. Carburetors were not precise instruments and they worked better when warmed up. By letting the car idle, the engine would warm up. Heat would rise and the carburetor would get nice and toasty.

Nearly all modern cars have ditched the carburetor approach. Now, they are designed to use electronic fuel injection systems controlled by computer programs and processing units. These new systems do not need to a warm up period. The programs work right off the bat. When the car is cold, the programs will adjust the fuel flow to come up with the most efficient engine performance solution. As the car warms up, the software program will continue to adjust the fuel mixture.

Ah, but what about lubrication? Letting the car warm up gets the oil moving around and so on, right? Again, we have to look at how the modern car works and the products that have been tailored to it. Modern oil does not come from the ground directly to your car. It is processed, refined and tweaked to create certain properties. One of them is a "stickiness" that causes the oil to bond at a molecular level with the engine parts. This means that there is effectively a layer of oil on the parts at all time, even before you start the car!

The desire to fire up your car and let it sit while warming up is one you really have to fight. All you are accomplishing when you do this is wasting gas and kicking out fumes from the tailpipe. Time is money. Get a move on!

Electric Car Kit - How to Build Your Own Electric Powered Car at Home

An electric car kit can help you convert you current vehicle into an electric car quickly and easily. Even if you have very little mechanical knowledge, the instructions are so easy to follow that you will be able to make your vehicle run on electricity in a very short time.

By building your own EV you can:

  • Eliminate your gas costs.
  • Get IRS refunds for driving an automobile that is friendly to the environment.
  • Emit less heat and pollution and reduce global warming.
  • Drive up to 200 miles on a single charge.

Soon all new cars will be using this technology, but until that time comes you can use a very easy-to-follow diy manual and build your very own EV for under $300! Although, most of the vehicles can be converted to run on electricity, it would be a good idea to choose a light automobile that has enough room to place the batteries.

The first thing you need to do is replace the internal combustion engine with the electric motor. You will also need a power controller, rechargeable batteries and power conductors. All these parts can be found at your local auto-shop. The conversion will cost less than $300 and will practically pay for itself in a few months. If instead of using a diy guide, you decide to pay a mechanic to do the job, then the cost will rise to $3000-$8000.

There are many do-it-yourself electric car conversion manuals online, but unfortunately many of them are very difficult to follow. Would you like to save money on gas ever year?

Read a review about the top 3 Conversion Car Kits and find out exactly how to make your own Electric Powered Car

Sony Car CD Players

Sony products are among those that you can rely on beyond every reasonable doubt. Their products sell all the world over and are just but perfect in quality and performance standards. To mention just but a few, Sony car CD players are among the products they produce; a perfect alternative to the sometimes not-so-pleasant music we get from the radio.

These CD players come in different makes and models and it would therefor be in order that you do a research on them before you make a decision to buy. To help you out, you can look through Sony car CD players reviews that are available on the Internet. Once you find out what different customers have to say about these gadgets, you will know what to avoid and what to go for. You will also be able to find specifications bout the players and you can see whether they match with those of your car.

Due to the rise in number of unscrupulous dealers, it is advisable that you only buy your goods form authorized Sony car CD players dealers. If you don't, Sony will not be responsible for any worthless item that you get from these dealers. If for any reason you feel that you need to have an old player replaced instead of buying a new one altogether, make sure that the repairs are done by Sony or authorized agents.

There is much that can be said about Sony and their products, but the biggest challenge is to get all the most important facts about Sony products right to avoid making biased decisions. Most of their items come with a manual so they should not be hard to operate.
